Sustainable and circular construction in the classroom: digital courses for draughtsmen and draughtswomen (EFZ)
The construction industry accounts for a large proportion of resource consumption. Anyone currently undertaking an EFZ draughtsman apprenticeship will help shape this industry in the future. Sustainable and circular construction therefore has a place in the curriculum. For many teachers, however, it is time-consuming to prepare this content themselves.
Future Perfect offers digital courses designed for this purpose, which can be used directly in the classroom. They are modular in structure, practical in design and aligned with the framework curriculum for vocational colleges. They have been developed in collaboration with industry experts.
The three courses
- Sustainable Construction: Learners contextualise the construction sector within the framework of sustainable development. They recognise the responsibilities of their profession and what they themselves can contribute. Expert partner: CSD Ingenieure.
- Fundamentals of Circular Construction: Learners compare current construction methods with circular approaches and learn, through practical examples, how materials are kept in circulation. Expert partner: Zirkular.
- Digitalisation & Life Cycle Assessment: Learners gain an insight into BIM, digital twins and life cycle assessments, and use the Ecotool to carry out simple life cycle assessments themselves.
How it works in the classroom
The courses are based on the AVIVA model and follow the flipped classroom principle. Learners work through the basics independently in digital learning modules. In class, the content is applied, explored in greater depth and reflected upon collectively. This leaves more scope for discussion and practical relevance, whilst minimising the preparation and follow-up work required of teachers.
The courses can be used in vocational studies lessons, in in-company further training and at higher technical colleges.
